Five Golden Birdies (For Malachi, King Omari, Dallas, JaNiyah, and Majesty))
Five golden birdies nestled in a tree,
Mama, Papa, and fat babies three.
Wiggly, tasty worms to eat,
Such a yummy springtime treat.
Leafy shade in sturdy branches
Papa’s off to work, but backward glances.
“Soon these babies too big will be.
Time to find another tree.”
Swooping down on winds so light.
His eyes a-lookin’ ‘til deepest night.
Mama trills and trills all day,
While babies chirp and cheep and play.
It’s late and dark; Papa flies home,
“Tomorrow,” he says, “another day to roam.”
“Goodnight babies, Mama too.
Let’s snuggle down ‘til skies shine blue.”
