A 2025 Wish List for My Black Sisters
Some political and social commentators predict that President-elect Donald Trump’s administration policies, legislative changes, reductions to, or dismantling of, federal safety nets (i. e., social security, welfare assistance for low-income families, Medicaid and Medicare), and limitations on health care access will hit Black families the hardest, especially Black women.
We face challenges which threaten our famiies, our livelihoods, and our physical and emotional wellbeing.
Nonetheless, I know we will stand in the gap for our families and communities. Hence, my new year wishes for you.
1. I wish for a renewal of your hope and optimism despite the challenges ahead.
2. I wish you more time with family and friends to strengthen the bonds between you.
3. I wish you more moments of solitude to heal from the stressors of work and family obligations.
4. I hope that you grow an appreciation of your fabulous body, no matter its size.
5. I wish for a deepening of your spiritual life.
6. I wish you love in all its forms.
7. I wish you an overflowing of abundance to meet your needs
8. I wish that 2025 will end with a stronger, smarter, happier, and healthier You.
